Reputation Online set to close

hand-waving-goodbyeIt’s with great regret that I write my last post for Reputation Online today.

Some of you might have seen the news yesterday that Centaur, our publisher, has been restructuring to form three core business groups: one covering legal and financial sectors, one the marketing and creative industries and another engineering and human resources.

Thankfully, heritage brands new media age and Design Week will both keep their online presences, but sadly Reputation Online will be closing. The site will remain live however for you all to use as an archive.

As digital PR becomes more important to the broader marketing mix, it will be integrated into both Marketing Week and new media age’s editorial offerings. The former is even set to launch a quarterly special that will focus purely on this area, in conjunction with the PRCA.

The Reputation Online awards in September, as well as this Friday’s Live event will not be running, but those that have already entered or paid will be contacted and refunded their fees as soon as possible.

We’ve also had to cancel the launch tonight of our biggest project to date  - The Reputation Online Top 100 PR Agencies guide –  but you’ll still be able to pick up a copy with this week’s final print edition of new media age. There will also be coverage on nma.co.uk (including a PDF version) tomorrow morning. I’ll be personally sending out copies to all of the agencies included in the guide later today.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our writers, supporters and readers over the past two years.

  • A shame, if understandable from Centaur's point of view. You've done an amazing job with this Vikki, and I'm sure you will when we next see you.

  • Bah!

Bunch of arse.  Was looking forward to attending tomorrow's session at the May Fair with two colleauges.  Why cancel if there are paid attendees?  Poor show Centaur.

  • Very sad news. It seems like a bonkers decision given how important digital PR and social media has become. Good luck Vikki

  • Sorry to hear that Vikki. Reputation Online will be sorely missed, and you did a great job in championing the sector and developing a brilliant resource for us all. I'm sure that you will be back in a different guise very soon, and we look forward to that at least.

  • A loss to us all :-(   I'm sure we'll be seeing you all in other exciting guises soon.  Best of luck.

  • Really sad news... Was a great read and really disappointed to hear it is to be no more...

  • So sorry to hear that Vikki.  My heart goes out to you and the other Reputation Online staff. Please keep in touch and let us know what's happening with you.  We'll miss Reputation Online and its useful insights - thanks for keeping it up as archive.

  • Hi Vikki - that's incredibly sad news - particularly as ReputationOnline has become a go-to site for most of us who work in the PR industry. Your committment and dedication to producing quality articles has not gone unnoticed and I hope that you continue to pursue your obvious passion in some other guise.

In my opinion, this is a really bad decision by Centaur and one that I'm sure they'll regret.

I have no doubt that whatever you go on to do, you'll be a huge success. Speak soon

  • What sad news. Well done for everything you have done for the sector - and as Andrew said, the future will be very bright for you. x

  • Really saddening news. I think those of us working in digital PR have lost something significant with the closure of Reputation Online, which was evolving into something central and important in championing our industry under your guidance Vikki. But best of luck to the entire team in whatever you do next.

A sad day for for the communications media landscape. For those who were heading to the Reputation Online top 100 party tonight, Hill & Knowlton & Communicate magazine will be hosting what will be less of an alternative party and more of a tribute at 20 Soho Square. 6:30.

  • And a big thank you to you, Vikki, from all of us, for all of your hard work and seemingly endless supply of energy and articles.

  • Vikki, you will get snapped up very quickly ....swoooosh - see it's happening already
