Hi Richard, as I pointed out and Vikki kindly reinforced, Fremantle have had a very capable community producer working close to the show. As I am sure my colleagues at FME/Talkback would attest, we worked together on a strategy that was driven by a tight brief. Also I should point out that the X Factor Twitter, Facebook and live commenting activity were driven forward by ITV's focus on engaging fans around programme brands (which is what this piece is mainly about). If you can come up with a more constructive critique of ITV's social media approach perhaps we could learn a thing or two from you...am all ears.

Hi Richard - I'm not sure how long ago you worked at Talkback, but as it says above, Ben was very clear that it's a member of the Fremantle team that handles the X Factor social media coverage, not the team at ITV.com.

I used to work at talkback, the makers of X factor, and I can tell you that the x Factor strategy of socila media engagement is all down to them, not the fools at ITV - who couldn't organise the proverbial drink in a brewery...
