YouTube have had a great week after social media analytics firm Sysomos released a report that looked closely at the relationship between the blogosphere and the online video space. The company analysed over 100 million blog posts and examined which video-sharing sites were used throughout. It was found that 81.9 per cent of embedded videos and links came from YouTube, with the only othes of note being Vimeo at 8.8 per cent, Daily Motion at 4 per cent and MySpace making an entry at 1.1 per cent. This isn’t exactly a surprising result, but is the first real piece of insight into the space, proving that YouTube’s reputation as ‘king of video’ still rings true.

The Bad

Oh dear. Just as Sarah Palin makes another attempt to reclaim her credibility by releasing her memoirs (named ‘Going Rogue’) – a parody ‘expose’ has been lined up for release in the same month.

The Nation magazine have put together a book of essays that dissects Palin’s image, personality, and politics, and called it ‘Going Rouge: An American Nightmare’ – complete with a cover that’s a mock up of her own (including darkened skies and lightning strike).

Though the authors have chosen to look seriously at her political ups and downs, it’s yet another piece of bad news for Palin as she attempts to regain a foothold in American politics – and try to rebuild her reputation in the process.

The Ugly

A bit of poor planning came back to bite Honda this week. In preparation for the launch of the 2010 Accord Crosstour, the company created a Facebook Fan Page to generate a bit of buzz. However, responses to the new model aren’t really the type of ‘recommendations’ we’d imagine they’d want to be shown publicly.

One user commented; “This is the ugliest thing since the Pontiac Aztek. Wow. But at least it’s cheap. Wait, at almost $40,000, not it isn’t. At least it has room in it. Wait, no it doesn’t. At least it will get good mileage. Wait, no it won’t.” Another even pointed out what a bad move it was to create such a public forum for disappointed fans to unleash their fury in. “Dear Honda, aren’t you amazed at the high level of negative media responses to this hideous car? Didn’t you do any planning with focus groups or get any public opinion on it?”
