Yeah agree there Mel, good post. I hope that MediaDisk/Cision, MediaAtlas et al are doing enough to recognise the speed of change.

They have obviously started to realise that the information they provide is now very different from its historic model (and do seem to be including some of the right info), but I hope they are putting enough resources into staying on top of the rapidly moving online media world.

Al

very well reasoned - it is really tough for PRs to stay on top of who to target with informed and relevant pitches and sadly the online tools available don't quite measure up.

Great post, Mel

Further listening: I'd recommend everyone takes a visit to the iTunes Store and downloads Internet Marketing podcast #53 which has a great interview with my former boss Stephen Waddington of Speed Communications on the subject of online PR, particularly how he feels Twitter has forced PR to sharpen up its game.

I've also covered the subject of blogger relations here http://www.cmrlee.com/index.php/digital-marketing-and-pr-podcasts/ (Episode Seven)
